General registration

General registration is available to practitioners who wish to practise as optometrists for graduates, practitioners returning to practice, changing from non-practicing and applicants from New Zealand under Trans-Tasman mutual recognition.

The National Law, together with the Board's registration standards, define the requirements that need to be met to be registered.

The Optometry Board of Australia has developed codes and guidelines to provide guidance to the profession. These also help to clarify our views and expectations on a range of issues.

For general registration forms, see the Forms page.

More information about the registration process can be found on the AHPRA website.
