Registration standard

Registration standards define the requirements that applicants or registrants need to meet to be registered.

This standard sets out the qualifications and other requirements that must be met in order for a registered optometrist or applicant for registration as an optometrist to be granted an endorsement under section 94 of the National Law as qualified to prescribe or supply scheduled medicines. 

Registration guidelines

These revised guidelines provide further guidance and assists optometrists to meet the Board’s endorsement for scheduled medicines registration standard.

The review of the Registration standard: Endorsement for Scheduled Medicines commenced public consultation on 1 February 2017 and closed on 31 March 2017. The public consultation paper provides an overview of the consultation process, rationale for any changes and sets out the proposed way forward, including areas where further work is planned.
